No matter how hard you try to maintain your carpets clean, there comes a moment when someone spills some hard-to-remove liquids or drops other things on your favourite carpet that would put you into trouble when you try to remove the resulted stains. In case you want to resort to professional cleaning products, you should know that many companies have decided to promote their products online, so if you want to do some research,  might be a good place to start. On the other hand, in case you want to try some homemade cleaning solutions, you should read some examples below.

  • Club soda for wine and beer stains

You might have heard about club soda and its properties to remove wine or beer stains, and all of these are true if done correctly. First, try spraying soda on a cloth and then blot the area. You should not rinse the carpet, because it would only damage it.

  • White vinegar

If the previous solution did not work, you should mix one part water with one part white vinegar. Pour the solution into a sprayer and then spray it over the stain. After ten minutes, press a sponge onto that area. It will soak up both the stain and the solution.

  • Shaving cream

Believe it or not, shaving cream does miracles on nearly any stain. You simply have to apply it directly on the stain and bolt it with a clean cloth after half an hour. It is important to leave the shaving cream set on the stain for 30 minutes.

  • Ice cubes work against chewing gum

If your children have dropped their chewing gum on the carpet, there is no need to worry about it. You simply need some ice cubes from the freezer. Place the cubes on the stuck gum and let it do its magic for about 30 seconds in order to freeze the gum. After the gum has become solid, you can easily lift it with a spoon and use a pair of scissors to cut the strands of carpet. If you are careful enough, the cut spot will not even be noticeable.

  • Dishwasher detergent for grease stains

Grease stains have no chance against dishwasher detergent. You have to mix two or three drops of detergent with a cup of water and you obtain the perfect homemade solution for cleaning grease stains. After spraying it on the area, use a cloth or a sponge to blot it. You might need to repeat the action a few more times in case the stain is larger.

  • Remove wax with an iron

Besides good music, a romantic evening involves burning candles too. In case you have wax stuck on your carpet, you do not have to panic. You need to cover the area with a white cloth and place an iron above the cloth in order to warm the wax. Use a butter knife to scrape off the wax. You can use some paper towel in order to make sure the wax is completely gone. Place them over the remaining wax and iron the area for no more than 30 seconds.
